Mrs.Carole Scannell Junior High Reading/Language - 7th

My name is Mrs. Carole Scannell and I am the 7th grade ELA teacher.  I have been a parishioner for more than twenty years, and been involved in a few church activities.  I have taught at a few different schools in the area, but look forward to my new adventure here at St. John Fisher.  My five children are all graduates of St. John Fisher which brings me great pride.

Week of October 5th

Posted on Oct 04, 2020

Welcome to October!!!  We made it through our first month of new rules and regulations.  This week is Spirit Week and each day the students can dress up differently.  Please refer to Mrs. Nash's not on the specifics.

This week in reading we will test on our story Women in Aviation on Monday, and then we will begin our first novel The Crossover by Kwame Alexander.  This is a story about twin boys who try their best to be just like Dad.  This story is written in prose which is very different from most novels.  We will go through the vocabulary, the background knowledge as it comes up in the story.  In language, we will continue to practice connotation/denotation, along with verb tenses.  In writing, we will write about a challenge in our lives.

As you know, progress reports are right around the corner, so we want to make sure all of our work is being handed in on time so that we aren't penalized for tardiness.  Enjoy the week with its changing colors and temperatures!
