Reminders:

Water Bottles/snack:  A reminder to please send in a water bottle & snack every day for your child next week. 

Brain Breaks: No Brain Breaks, I will be sending all supplies home as the week goes on.

We have a lot of fun activities planned for this week to celebrate our amazing school! 

 

Monday - Roll Out of Bed Day (please wear Gym Shoes) All school Bingo 

Tuesday- Game Day: Bring in your favourite game 

Wednesday - $1 dress down for the Ronald McDonald House. Students may wear their craziest wackiest outfit

Thursday - As a school we will celebrate our faith with a prayer service 

Friday - FALCON DAY - Students may dress completely out of uniform in their Falcon wear. Each child may bring in a special treat for themselves to have while enjoying a Friday Movie!

Happy New Year 2021

Happy New Year First Grade!! I hope everyone had a fantastic New Years and Christmas. This Week we will be starting our first week of E-Learning. Please make sure you are signed up on google classroom if not done so already. I am so excited to see everyone and hear about their break. 

Just a few reminders: We will be E-Learning from Wednesday January 6th - January 15th. In person learning will resume January 19th. We will be closed January 18th for Martin Luther King’s Birthday. 

 

This Week we will be reviewing: I have posted a sight word review slideshow in our google classroom for students to review and practice at any time.    

 

Reading/Phonics:

With Christmas around the corner the class has been enjoy so many fun holiday activities. They are working so hard and learning all about The Nativity and Holiday Time. We as a class are very excited for Christmas and all the fun activities surrounding this wonderful time of year

Happy Halloween Week! 

This week we will be doing some fun Halloween activities. On Friday we will be having a Halloween party. Students will be allowed for dress up, unfortunately, students will not be allowed to bring in any treats on this day. Students can wear their costume but we ask that you please leave props at home. We also ask that students not wear their halloween costume mask or face covering other than their everyday mask. Thank you for your cooperation. 

Our first graders have been doing an amazing job at keeping our classroom clean and safe for everyone. I am so proud of how cautious the students have been and keeping their hands clean and wearing their masks appropriately! Way to go Falcons! With keeping a clean, healthy, and safe classroom, I do ask that if possible to please bring in extra disinfecting wipes for our classroom. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

First grade had a fantastic week last week! Wrapping up Jonny Appleseed and completing our first math test of the year. Way to go Falcons! The class is continuing to follow instructions and staying on task as the school year continues. Our class is doing so well with keeping up with our safety protocols and keeping our hands and classroom clean.

Lots of exciting things this week! This week starts our new October themes and we kick off Spirit Week! We had such a WONDERFUL week last week! We learned about apples, we graphed with them, we even tested an apple to see if it would float or sink. We were able to eat lunch outside and we read a book about Jonny Appleseed out side in our tents. We are having so much fun in 1st grade! 

Just a Reminder Tuesday is picture day so make sure to dress your best in your Sunday best!

Grammar: We will be learning possessive pronouns, verbs, and reviewing nouns. We will look at sentence structure, capitalizing and punctuation. 
 

Math: We will be finishing up chapter 1 and we will be having a Math test on Friday.  OUR MATH TEST WILL BE SOLVED STEP BY STEP TOGETHER.

The year is off to a great start! Our first graders are working so hard everyday and keeping up with our classroom policies and procedures! Way to go first graders! 

This week I ask that our first graders please bring in their favorite apple on Friday September 25th to go along with our Apple theme projects. (red, yellow, or green apple)

Week of Sept 14

This week we will continue to grow, learn and work together! Reminding the students of classroom safety and staying healthy. Each Day we are slowly introducing new procedures and classroom routines. 

Each week a letter will be going home about the letters of the week, spelling words, and sight words. For the first few weeks, we will be taking it slow. We will not have spelling tests or sight word quizzes until the end of the month, along with a homework folder  and calendar. Please review daily at most 10 minutes, repetition and reviewing the beginning letter sounds daily is important and will help to slowly move into word patterns. 

This week: 

Religion: We will focus on Faith and Family, and being Followers of Jesus 

Phonics: Letters M, S, T, B - Short Vowel A. 
Sight Words: go, is, like, see, the, this, to, we. 
Spelling  words: mat, sat, bat, Sam, am at

homework: Practice letter sounds and sight words. 

Reading: We will be reading My First Day, Pete the Cat, and Try This! 
Through the reading we will be discussing Realistic Fiction, Narrative Non Fiction and Fiction 
Grammar: Nouns 

Math: We will be looking at how to solve different types of word problems in different ways, and number sentences.

As many of you may know September is  Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. The SJF family will be showing there support for Finley Bracken who lost her battle with cancer over the weekend. Wednesday Sept 16, students will be allowed to dress down by donating $1 for this little warriors family.

Welcome Back Fisher Falcons!!

It was so great to meet all of you last week at orientation! I can tell that this is going to be a fun and exciting year! 

This week we will be working on getting to know each other, and reviewing/learning new rules and protocols. We will enjoy; coloring, printing, snack and getting to know each other. We will be working as a class together and learning together. 

Please read the information in the Green folder that was sent home on Orientation day.
