2021-22 SJF School Advisory Board Members:

Carrie Nowicki, Co-Chairperson: Committees: Executive, Fiscal Management, Communications

Carrie joined the board in 2018. She and her husband, Bob, chose SJF for their four boys ago because of its strong and supportive culture and sense of community. She looks forward to partnering with the board, faculty, and parishioners in her second term to help SJF students excel for years to come. Carrie brings to the board corporate leadership and communication skills gained from her roles in Human Resource management at PepsiCo.

Joe Goldrick, Co-Chairperson: Committees: Executive, Fiscal Management

Joe joined the school board in 2018. He and his wife, Erin, a SJF alum, have two children. Both are students at SJF, one 4th grade and one in 1st grade. Joe brings experience in investment / financial management, fundraising, and strategic planning to the board from his role at Adams Street Partners, a Chicago-based asset management firm.

Tim Bush, Co-Vice Chairperson: Committees: Executive, Strategic Planning (Facilities)

Tim joined the SAB in 2019. Tim and his wife, Nora, have lived in St. John Fisher since 1983. They have three (3) children all graduates of SJF. Tim is a former President of the SJF Athletic Board, previously worked on Fisherfest Committee and coached at SJF for several years. He is a member of the Holy Name Society. Tim is currently serving as the Executive Director of the Southside Catholic Conference. He has a Bachelor’s Degree from St. Mary’s University and a Master Degree in Corrections from Chicago State University. Tim retired after 31 years from his position as Cook County Assistant Chief Adult Probation Officer in 2013. He is currently a small business owner. Tim is honored to have this opportunity and looks forward to serving on the school board.

Katy Spreitzer: Strategic Planning Chair (Academic Excellence)

Katy, who joined the board in 2018, is excited about the opportunity to serve the SJF community for a second term. She has lived in the SJF community for the past 18 years and has three daughters who attend / attended SJF. Katy has been an educator for 25 years and is currently the Director of Literacy and Intervention in Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123. She hopes her experiences relative to school leadership, school-wide strategic planning, curriculum development, instructional best practices, professional development, and family engagement help to serve the advisory board’s vision and mission.

Mary Kopale: Committees: Mission Effectiveness Chair (Newsletter)

Mary and her husband Bob have been parishioners of SJF for over 30 years and are proud parents of 6 SJF alums. Mary’s previous service to the SJF community includes stints as President of the FSA and co-chair of the Parish Revitalization Committee. A former teacher at Mother McAuley, Mary currently works in Instructional Design at the University of Illinois, Chicago and also teaches continuing professional education courses to K-12 educators. Mary hopes to use her time on the SAB to help to support the school’s mission and to strengthen the connection between the school community and the parish community. Mary is grateful for the opportunity to give back to the school and the community that have given so much to her family.

John O’Connor: Committee: Strategic Planning (Development/Fundraising)

John and his wife Colleen moved to SJF in 2014. They have four children currently enrolled at SJF and newborn twins at home. John is a 1992 graduate of Brother Rice High School, 1996 graduate of Saint Xavier University and received a Master’s Degree from DePaul University in 2005. John chairs the SJF Men’s Club Sports Night that has raised over $55,000 the past two years. John coaches basketball at SJF and helps with Ridge Beverly Baseball. John works at Mount Carmel H.S. in the Freshman First Office where he is also a varsity football coach. John has been a member of the CPD since 1998.

Megan Scarsella: Committee: Communications and Marketing Chair (Website)

Megan and her husband Steve have been a part of the St. John Fisher community since 2009. They have three children: with their oldest a recent grad of SJF in the Class of 2020. Megan began her career in advertising before transitioning to the nonprofit sector. As Executive Director of Cool Globes. Megan develops public art exhibits in cities across the world. In addition, she has worked as an independent brand consultant, and led a climate action campaign on 60 college campuses. Bringing her love of SJF and passion for branding to the table, Megan is excited to work together with the board to help implement and build upon the Strategic Plan.

Matt Carlson: Committee/s: Finance (Grants)

Matt joined the school board in 2020. He and his wife, Bridget, a SJF alum, have lived in the parish since 2018 and are proud parents of two future Falcons. Matt brings experience in marketing, sales and strategic development from his position at Ecolab, a hygiene and water management company headquartered in St. Paul, MN. He is excited to partner with the board and the SJF community in driving the strategic plan forward, welcoming new families to the parish and school and fostering incremental parish involvement. Matt was born and raised in Southwest Michigan.

Kelly Robinson: Committee: Communications and Marketing (Recruitment)

Kelly and her husband, George, and their three young children moved into the St. John Fisher parish in 2020.  Seeking an opportunity to become more involved in the community, Kelly and her husband joined the Women’s and Men’s Clubs. 

Serving a variety of communities over the last 12 years as an educator, Kelly brings her knowledge of curriculum development, data analysis, and community outreach along with a passion for technology and communications to the advisory board.

It is with her experience as an educator, passion as a parent, and commitment as a community member that Kelly hopes to support SJF in its continuous effort to facilitate the intellectual, academic, social and emotional growth of each student.  

Cara West: Committee: Mission Effectiveness (Alumni Outreach)

Cara is new to the SJF School board this in 2021. Cara and her husband Matt, living slightly outside the school boundaries, chose SJF as their parish, and school to their 2 children, based on a prominent public reputation associated with being a Falcon. She is anticipating to highlight the intellectual, spiritual, and emotional dominance found at St. John Fisher to engage alumni and current parishioners in a commitment to sustain and grow the strength already present within this community.

Brendan Moody: Committee: Fisher Falcon Education Foundation (Chair)

Brendan expressed interest in joining the School Board in 2021 and was asked to help launch the Fisher Falcon Education Foundation. He brings experience in finance and fundraising that will help make these efforts successful. He and his wife Katie moved to SJF in 2015. They are proud parents of three children currently enrolled at SJF. Brendan works for Spotlight Asset Group, an Oak Brook-based wealth management firm.
