SJF Friday Thoughts 10/12/18

Happy Friday!

We’ve had a busy week with our 3rd-8th graders taking the ACT Aspire Interim Math Assessment.  Next week, our students will take the reading portion of the test.  The results of these tests will help guide our curriculum over the course of the year.

It was very exciting news for those of us with Southwest Reward and other credit cards that provide rewards and rebates that the manna program will now be accepting credit cards for purchase of manna certificates with no fee.  This is a win-win program!  Please support SJF by using manna. If you have questions about the program, please email Raphael at sjfmanna@gmail.com.

Each of our students received a baby bottle last week to collect change.  This project benefits the Women's Center of Greater Chicagoland.  This non-profit organization directly assists mothers and families in need, so we are grateful for any help you can provide.  The collection ends next Friday, so please have their child bring the bottle back next week.  Thank you in advance for your support.

Don’t forget the Sunday mass challenge, which is building a very strong family worship routine at the 10 a.m. mass on Sunday.

Next week, our 1st graders are headed to the Children’s Farm on Tuesday.  Picture Day is also Tuesday, so be sure your child wears his/her Sunday best!

We host some of our area high schools on Wednesday’s High School Options Day.  Junior high students will have a chance to meet students and staff from the local co-ed schools. On November 1st, the single-sex schools will be here.

On Friday, October 19th, the sixth grade Girl Scouts will be collecting gently used winter/warm kids and women’s clothes, shows, hats, scarves, gloves and blankets for a program called Family Rescue Inc.  This program supports women and children who are victims of domestic violence.  Kris Houston and the girls will be outside the office on Friday from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. collecting any items you are able to donate.  Please email Kris at krisp1@aol.com with questions.

Have a fabulous Fall weekend!
