Friday Thoughts August 26th

Posted on Aug 29, 2016

Dear St. John Fisher Families,

I will never search for a "yellow dot"sale again.

By now, you probably know that I took a not too graceful fall in the parking lot and broke my femur at Carsons. After successful surgery on Sunday, I am on the road to recovery and have been treated like a queen both at Little Company of Mary and here at the Motherhouse in LaGrange.

Although this was surely not part of my master plan, the faculty and staff at SJF have, as always, been terrific, attending to every detail of a new school year.

I was very sad yesterday morning when I pictured our 700 plus Falcons walking into school with crisp uniforms and book bags packed with sharp new pencils, new crayons and enough Lysol Wipes to ward off a plague.  I was especially pleased to know each Junior Higher would be receiving a new ChromeBook.  I received multiple reports that all went well and that the year is off to a great start.

Sunday is the parish picnic.  I hope you will plan to come.  The day begins with Mass at noon in the park followed by great food and fun games.  I will not be in the three legged race this year!

Tuesday night is “Meet and Greet the teachers.  I wish I could be there to share my excitement about several new programs we are launching but Mrs. Reed and our faculty will be great pinch hitters.  We welcome you to visit your child’s classroom at 6:30 and attend a short meeting in church at 7 p.m.

This is surely not the way I intended to start the year, but the dedication and commitment  of all at SJF will ensure it is our best year ever.

Please say a little prayer that this broken bone and my new bionic parts fuse quickly. I am missing all of you.

Sr. Jean
