Friday Thoughts September 23rd

Posted on Sep 23, 2016

Dear Falcon Families,
All have survived Fisher Fest with flying colors.  Although final totals are not complete, thanks to great weather, scores of volunteers, an amazing committee, and boundless energy and enthusiasm, I think this will probably be the"best Fest" yet.  THANK YOU!

The weekend is filled with terrific Homeming events. There is great excitement in the air as our teams face the St. Cajetan Warriors.  (Go Falcons!!)  The junior high homecoming dance is tonight.  Tomorrow, our fourth grade team plays St. Cajetan at 10:30 at Beverly Park.  At 11:45, the parade will leave SJF for Beverly Park.  5th and 6th grade play at noon, and Varsity at 3 p.m., with several junior and senior cheerleading performances during the two halftimes.

Thank you for your generous support of our “superhero” event today.  We are pleased to present a significant donation to the Cure It Foundation.

It’s not too late to sign up for Girl Scouts!  If you missed the info table at Book Day and your daughter is interested in joining Girl Scouts at SJF this year, please contact:

Our school and parish are participating in the Baby Bottle Project for The Women’s Center this year.  The Women’s Center works with women who are in crisis pregnancies.  They provide spiritual and emotional counseling as well as offer material goods such as diapers, formula, cribs, car seats and much more. They also provide some medical services.  We will be distributing baby bottles next Thursday to our students, and at the weekend masses following to parishioners.  We ask that you place the baby bottle in a well seen area of your home. Explain to your child that their donation of spare change can truly make a difference for a baby. Our spare change can provide the basic necessities for a new family that is in need.  Taking time to say a little prayer with your child for all of the unborn babies is another way of helping and is an added blessing for the babies.  We will collect baby bottles on October 13th.

Next Wednesday, Mrs. Patty Zriny, former SJF Teacher and current student events trainer at Argonne, will spend the day conducting experiments with our junior high students.

Next Thursday, the Brother Rice baseball team will present “Pay it Forward,” an anti-bullying program to our kindergarten students.

Next Friday evening, the Women’s Club is hosting the “Meet and Greet Inaugural Scavenger Hunt.”

I am so homesick for all things Fisher and hope to be back very soon.  Physical therapy is going well and I hope to be off the injured reserve list soon.

I love hearing about all of the great work the students and teachers are doing every day.  Our youngest Falcons are looking like veteran scholars and the Junior High kids are already pros with their chromebooks.

Have a great weekend!  I miss you
