Friday Thoughts October 13 2017

Posted on Oct 13, 2017

Dear Falcon Families,

There are some weary Cubs fans in the building today.   The game was a thriller with a terrific, though late hour outcome.   The enthusiasm for a repeat is great for the city.

There is also great excitement about sports here at SJF.   Both of our football teams enter playoff competition this weekend with teams playing on Sunday at Marist.   The junior varsity (5th and 6th grade team) has only one defeat this season and is looking to capture a championship this year.

Not to be outdone, Saturday is also “Pack the House Day” in the gym for all of the girls’ basketball teams.  All are welcome.  Games begin at noon and are played all day, so stop in at any time for some exciting basketball action.

Next Sunday, October 22, we are hosting the first family mass of the year.  All are welcome to come to the 10:00 Mass and to stay for donuts on the lawn immediately after Mass.   We hope you will make this event a family priority.

Are you a trivia fan?  If so, or even if you just enjoy a “night out” with neighbors and friends, plan to come for our first SJF Trivia Night on Saturday, November 4. Tickets are only $15.00.   It is a BYO event but snacks will be provided.  Rumor has it we have Jeopardy worthy teams ready for some friendly competition.  It should be great fun.

Startling as it is, I saw the first Christmas decorations of the season at one of the stores last week.  YIKES, what happened to Halloween and Thanksgiving?   I was reminded that now is the time to stack up on MANNA gift cards so that Christmas shopping can help reduce tuition payments.   Buying a few cards every week provides a “stash” you can use both to shop and to give as gifts.   Buying a few Amazon cards each week to add to your account makes on-line holiday shopping easy.   Thanks to the new MANNA subscribers and to our faithful regulars who “Don’t leave home without” their Manna certificates.

A few reminders:

Health records and proof of immunization for pre-schoolers and sixth graders need to be complete by Monday.   Second grade dental forms are also due.  We have sent several reminders, but if you have a question, please let us know.  Thanks for your cooperation.

October tuition is also due by Monday.   You should have received an email invoice indicating your payment due.  Payments can be made at the office, through the mail or online.  If you did not receive an invoice, please contact the office ASAP.

We are hosting a Virtus Training Session in Kane Hall tomorrow morning.  Remember that if you volunteer in any capacity at school you must complete this training.   You can register here.   Walk- ins are also welcome tomorrow.

The November menu for our popular new lunch program will be available on Monday.  Remember there are two steps to the lunch order process, select the day(s) you would like to order lunch and then return to the website and click on the on line payment tab.

Enjoy these beautiful fall days and have a good weekend.
