2019-2020 School Closure Announcement

Dear SJF Families,

As all of you have likely heard, Governor Pritzker announced this afternoon that schools in Illinois will be closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. Though many of us have predicted this outcome, it is still an incredibly devastating and shocking reality and very difficult to accept. We have been praying daily that we would have a different result and be back together again at some point this year. However, during this emotional and frustrating time, we all must remain focused on our top priority which is the health and safety of our community.

Please know that we are committed to remaining here for you during this time. Though our school building will remain closed, we will continue to implement our E and Alternative Learning Plans, supporting your student’s academic growth and achievement and emotional needs remotely. Our Spring Break is over this upcoming Sunday and our teachers and staff are eager to engage with your children and return to our E Learning schedule on Monday morning!

We are here to not only support your children, but you as well. I am committed to our beloved St. John Fisher School Community and will continue to support our staff and students, ensuring this unique year ends positively and successfully for our entire school community. Please continue to communicate your needs to us so that we can best serve and support you during this time. As we receive more guidance from the archdiocese and state and local officials, we will continue to make decisions that are in the best interest of our students and families as it pertains to the end of year events.

St. John Fisher is an incredible community that bands together during times of need. This is one of those times and I know we will continue to be there for one another. Thank you for your commitment to and love for our school and our community. I will stay in close communication with you as I learn and receive more information. Stay well and take the best of care.

In unity and hope,

Mrs. Maura Nash
