Friday Thoughts 11/2/18

What a beautiful day Halloween was!  Choosing a winner from the amazing entries into our literature themed pumpkin decorating contest was not easy!  There were celebrations throughout the building, and many ghosts and goblins seen trick or treating throughout the neighborhood after school.  We hope you all had your fill of kit-kats and milky ways!  If you have extra candy; please send it to school for a donation to the homeless shelter.   The winner for the pumpkin decorating contest was Riley in 6th grade for the Grinch pumpkin; congratulations, Riley!

Queen of Hearts:  We had another rollover this week.   #19 was selected and it was the 8 of Diamonds.   $53K and climbing.

There is an update to our mass challenge for November and December: Students will write their name and room number on a ticket and put it in one bucket at the end of mass.  Students will be entered into a raffle for gift cards of their choice to be given in December!!!  Ticket passers will be at 4:00 Saturday and 8, 10, and noon masses on Sunday.  Keep Calm and GO TO CHURCH!  Any questions contact Kristin Mlyniec at kristin_kohler@hotmail.com.

Don’t miss our special Veteran’s Day Mass on Friday 11/9 at 1:15.  Several of our teachers have been working hard to make our recognition of veterans an extraordinary event.

The Family School Association has a variety of fundraising initiatives in addition to the various social events they host.  One easy way for you to help is by saving your Box Tops for Education.  There will be incentives coming soon for students/classrooms that bring in the most box tops.  Thank you for your support.

The Manna program is now taking credit cards. (This results in a double bonus; earn miles or cash back bonuses on your card and tuition rebates as well!)  Now is a good time to start thinking about the many ways you can use manna to support our school.  Gift cards make wonderful Christmas or birthday gifts, and shopping for holiday parties using manna certificates will reap many benefits for you and for St. John Fisher.  County Fair, Jewel, Mariano’s and Meijer are just a few grocery options.  Buy manna tomorrow from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. in the convent, or in the church foyer after the 4 pm mass or the 10:30 a.m. mass on Sunday.

On Sunday, December 2nd after the 10 AM Mass, the FSA will host their annual Advent Wreath Making event.  $30/family provides materials to make your own fresh advent wreath/ candles which Fr. Ken will bless. Please RSVP if you hope to attend this event by emailing Bridget Stalla at fsaatSJF@gmail.com or texting 773-852-4698 by Wed. 11/7/18 so we can order enough supplies!

Enjoy the weekend!
