Friday Thoughts on Monday

Despite the heat, we had another great week with kids of all ages excited about the many new things they are learning.  Our school improvement plan has a focus on building reading skills, and our teachers’ summer curriculum project is paying off with some very engaging lessons that challenge every student.  You can help by encouraging your child to enjoy a good book.

The October hot lunch menu is open.  The meals in this program are delicious; we encourage your children to give them a try if they haven’t already.

Just a reminder, SJF is partnering with the Mt. Greenwood Special Rec Program and the Special Olympics in their annual Duck Derby.  On Monday, representatives will present to the kids during our three lunch periods, and students will be able to "adopt" a numbered rubber ducky for $5.  All are welcome to attend the actual duck derby at Mt. Greenwood Park on September 29th. If you are interested, please send $5 for your child or family to support this very worthy cause.

FisherFest is over, and now it’s time to focus on Queen of Hearts!  The next drawing is tonight at Cork & Kerry, the pot is over $41k and the winner gets 60% of the pot. Tickets are 6 for $5 and can be purchased at Cork or next week on Tuesday only after school.

Don’t forget our mass challenge; we’re excited to see so many families at 10 a.m. on Sunday.  All are welcome.

The St. John Fisher Women’s Club Annual Scavenger Hunt and membership night will be held on October 19.  The program is limited to 20 teams so sign up today!  Click here for all the details.

We are continuing our partnership with the St. Xavier nursing program, and the senior nursing students will be providing lessons to our students on various health topics beginning next week.

Have a fabulous weekend!
