Important School Security Information

Dear Parents,

We continue to work on improving school safety.  This week, you will see that 102ndStreet will be one-way heading east during drop off and pick up times.  We urge you to proceed slowly around our campus and to pull over to the curb when dropping off or picking up your children, or to drop older students a short distance away from school if at all possible.  The traffic issues become more problematic when we have rain or snow, so we will remind you periodically.

We will also be blocking all entrances to the parking lot from 10:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. during times our students have recess, except on days when funerals are scheduled.  There are several parking spots on the street in front of the rectory if you are visiting us during those times.

Just a reminder; all visitors MUST check in at the school office and receive a visitors pass before going to any part of our building including classrooms and the school library.

Finally, although our soft lockdown went fairly well, we have made some changes to our soft lockdown plan to make it run more smoothly next time.  Students will have time to gather all belongings, and will proceed to the locations below.  We will notify you by email and phone, and ask for your patience as we assemble students in the designated locations in a calm and orderly way.

All children whose last name begins with A-F will go to Church.   All church entrances will be locked.  Parents can sign out their children in the church foyer.

All children whose last names begin with G-M will go to Kane Hall.  Parents can sign out their children at the driveway entrance.

All children whose last name begins with N-Z will assemble in the gym.  Parents can sign out their children at the main school office doors.

In the coming weeks, we will be working with the Chicago Police Department to fine-tune our procedures for an active shooter in the building.  Our faculty will receive additional training, and we will run a drill with the students.  We will notify you in advance of the drill.

Thank you for your support in ensuring the safety of our students.
