Back to School Curriculum Nights

Posted on Aug 18, 2018

Dear St. John Fisher Parents,

We are excited to invite you to our St. John Fisher “Back to School Curriculum Nights” on August 29th & 30th. This year’s program offers a significant change from recent years. Our new program is designed for teachers to present an overview of their curriculum to parents.  These evenings help facilitate positive communication between home and school. Our teachers are excited to begin this essential partnership.

You can expect teachers to share an overview of their curriculum for the school year, grading practices and policies, interdisciplinary units, and classroom routines. Just as importantly, these sessions will offer an opportunity for parents to get a glimpse of their child’s daily experiences in school and gain insight into what students will be learning throughout the year. In order to ensure that the goals for the evening are accomplished, parents are asked not to bring their children with them.

Parents of students in grades 5-8 are invited to attend the program on Wednesday August 29th. Parents of students in grades Pre-K-4 are invited to attend the program on the Thursday August 30th. Your children will be bringing home a more specific schedule in advance of the Curriculum Nights. Please also be sure to follow updates on the SJF website (sjfschool.net).

Both evenings will start at 6:30 PM in the church with a greeting and blessing from Father Ken. I will then take a few minutes to share my vision for the 2018-2019 school year. Our faculty is pleased to partner with other key stakeholders to make this a great event. Parents? ?will be given time and are encouraged ?to? ?drop by booths that will be set up in the foyer. We hope all parents take advantage of this opportunity to meet and engage representatives from many of our important support groups including, but not limited to FSA and Manna.

As a longtime teacher, I always appreciated and came to expect outstanding parental commitment. Although this is a new experience for both our parents and teachers, I know I can count on a strong turnout of enthusiastic SJF parents!

Respectfully,

Jim Fornaciari
