Sophia Lewis 3rd Grader

Posted on Mar 22, 2021

This year, our school theme is “Fly Like a Falcon.” Falcons SOAR above, capturing an aerial view of what is going on below. We are encouraging our school community to “SOAR above” things that might bring us down, not allowing us to be our best selves. We are on a school-wide crusade to “Fly Like a Falcon”, lifting one another up, celebrating the positive interactions and kind behavior that our students and staff demonstrate each and every day. This week we recognize third grader, Sophia Lewis. I am sure you have noticed, thanks to the melting snow and high winds, that there seems to be more garbage and litter flying around our neighborhood than usual. This is no different at SJF. Mrs. Regnier, Sophia’s teacher, shared with me this wonderful story. At recess last week, Sophia began picking up litter and garbage around the parking lot and sidewalks. Sophia was appalled at all of the litter as she knows it is bad for our environment. Sophia’s peers saw her in action and joined in! The 3rd graders were recently learning about recycling and pollution. Sophia began making connections to cleaning up outside to the lesson they learned in school. Sophia and friends now search the school grounds to pick up any litter outside. Sophia has inspired her friends to do their part to make our world a better and cleaner place simply by example. Sophia even made a song and dance about the importance of keeping our environment clean! Thank you, Sophia, for inspiring your fellow Falcons to make this world a brighter place. You are fun. You are special. You have gone above and beyond. You are a wonderful role model and we are proud that you are a Falcon!
